They are called hoarders and there is actually a television program that benefits from the weakness of these individuals. You would be surprised how many people today refuse to throw stuff away for one reason or another, so much so that taking care of their own home can be a lot more difficult than it should be. When we put that sort of value of things, which in many cases actually turn out to be trash, we don't leave room in our hearts for what is really important.
